The City of Los Angeles is currently facing a crisis concerning access to clean, safe, and affordable drinking water. We at One Up Action Los Angeles, a chapter of the international organization taking direct action to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis, have planned a week of action to curb the LA water crisis. Each day took action in different ways. On our first day of our week of action, we hosted two free webinars available to the public to tune in and learn more about the water crisis here in LA and ways that they could get involved. On day two, a group of our organizers donated around 400 bottles of water to a local food bank. On day three, we organized a massive protest in collaboration with Extinction Rebellion Youth Los Angeles and Sunrise Los Angeles Youth outside the LA Department of Water and Power's headquarters. And finally, on day 4, we submitted a motion to the LA City Council backed by hundreds of signatures demanding structural change to an ever so prominent issue. Clean, safe water is a human right. Let´s keep the pressure on LAWDP!
The LADWP is a disaster and it's good to see that people are starting to call them out! Looking forward to seeing the next set of actions against them!!!!!
