JEEZUS! Not only have they spilled oil all over the place, but then they LIED about it! Or even worse, just pretended for YEARS that nothing had occurred:
Sadly, I'm sure the "millions" in penalties barely makes a dent in Enbridge's profits. I don't foresee any true come-to-Jesus moment for these guys ANY time soon, as long as breaking the law and risking the lives of millions is still cheaper than obeying the law and taking time out to, you know, actually care about people not dying.
And meanwhile, if you research the issue, you'll see some news articles about workers demanding the pipeline go through vs. indigenous folks complaining about their land rights being violated one too many times, plus economists talking a lot about "what it all means" for our economy.
And that's all fine and good. But WHERE ARE THE ARTICLES ABOUT HOW CLIMATE CHANGE IS DIRE AND GOING TO KILL US?!? I mean, that's not just one take on the story. It is the main PLOT of the story. It is the setting and story arch and hero's journey and conclusion and side quest and "we're not so different, you and I" and every other part of the story all rolled into ONE!
When will the media talk about this issue with the gravity it deserves? You know: the facts?
Like, why have no news outlets talked about the environmental impact report that clearly shows that Line 3 would decrease efforts around the world to convert to cleaner energy sources?
And why is the press acting like ending Line 3 will make grannies freeze to death all over North America, instead of telling the truth: we ALREADY have too much natural gas, and expect even MORE to be produced despite the rising oceans.
